Once you get the hang of it, live webinars can be a piece of cake, but when you get into automation, all of the tech involved and the numbers to keep track of is enough to make your head swirl.

I'm a tech geek and a numbers nerd, which means it's easy for me to look at my webinar to figure out exactly what numbers to track and how to look at them to know what's working and what's not. Today, I'm going to make it easy for you to do the same!

As promised, here are the 7 key numbers to track to perfect your webinar:

1. Cost Per Lead (CPL)

This is how much money it costs you for every lead who registers for your webinar. Let's say you're using Facebook Ads, for example, to get people to register. You would look up the total amount you've spent on the ads and divide that by the # of registrants, giving you the exact amount you paid per lead. (Total spend / # Registrants = Cost Per Lead) I'm typically aiming for around $3 per lead, but I''m ok with spending up to $5 as long as the webinar is making money.

2. Landing Page Conversion

This is the percentage of people who come to your landing page and actually register for the webinar. Even if you have people who visit your webinar registration page, not everyone is going to sign up. Typically, 40-78% of my mailing list will opt in for my webinars, but you want around 20% at a minimum. If you're using a software like LeadPages to create your landing page, it will give you this statistic right inside your LeadPages dashboard.

3. Show Up Rate

This is the percentage of people who registered for your webinar and actually showed up live. Even if you have people registering, not everyone is going to show up. Things happen, people forget, time passes, and they just don't make it. You want around 30% of the people who register to show up live. If you're using a software like InstantTeleseminar, it should tell you inside your dashboard how many people showed up.

4. Stick Rate

This is the percentage of people who show up live to the webinar and actually stick around until the end to hear the pitch. You want around 90% of the viewers to stick until the end. If you're using a software like Stealth Seminar it will show you with a time stamp when people dropped off the webinar so you can see when people are losing interest.

5. Live Pitch Conversion

This is the percentage of people who showed up live to the webinar and actually ended up taking you up on your offer. All you have to do is divide the number of sales you had by the number of people who showed up. [(# of Sales / Number of People on the Webinar *100) = Conversion Rate] Typically you're aiming for around 20% but I've had clients get as high as 67% using my webinar model.

6. Sales Page Conversion

This is the conversion on your sales page, meaning the percentage of people who visited your sales page and end up buying. If I made a profit and the conversion from my pitch is good, then I don't worry about this too much. If I notice not a lot of sales are happening, I want to see if the sales page is the problem. The average sales page converts anywhere from 2-10%.

7. Follow Up Conversion

Finally, look at how many people are signing up from your follow up emails. I don't have an exact number or percentage I look for here, but in general, I want the follow up to double or triple my sales. Remember, not everyone who opts in will show up and not everyone who showed up will take you up on your offer. That's why follow up is key to tap into those leads who may not have seen your offer.
