If you're ready to dip your toes in the nerdy automated marketing waters so you can generate leads and clients on demand without lifting a finger, then keep reading. Today, I'm going to let you in on 3 geeky insider secrets for putting your marketing on auto-pilot the right way.

This is critical, because once you know how to turn $60 into $100, or book a hundred calls on your company's sales calendar in a month, all without lifting a finger, automation can be pretty darn fun.

The word automation can be a little intimidating and technical, so let me break it down for you.

Instead of sitting at your computer late at night, posting in Facebook groups or going to the latest networking meeting searching your next client, what if you could take a nap during the day and wake up to a new client who found you while you were off dreaming about Wentworth Miller...

That's how automation works. It does the work so you don't have to. I'm not saying there's no effort involved, but once it's set up and working, you're in the clear to go off on vacation while your automation does its job. Here 3 nerdy little rules for how to set your marketing up on auto-pilot:

1. Model What Works

One of the reasons I've been so successful in my business so fast is because instead of constantly trying to re-invent the wheel, I simply look at what other successful industry leaders are doing. I model what I see is working. What's that old saying? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Well, the same applies to the market. Keep an eye out for success stories in your industry. When you find them, watch them carefully to see exactly what they did to create that success, then model it.

2. Launch Your Automated Funnel Live To Mailing List First, Then Automate Later

When I first decided to dive into automation, I made the mistake of going straight into automating a webinar I had never delivered live. Well, it didn't work. Since learning that lesson, what I've found to be more effective is to launch your funnel live first to your mailing list, so that you can see what works and what doesn't. Then you can fix the kinks before you automate it. If you're going to do a webinar funnel, do the webinar live. If you're going to do a 5-day challenge, do the challenge live. Another benefit to doing this is that your mailing is easier to convert than people from Facebook ads who have never met you before. Launching it live to your list first is a great way to get some cash in the door to fund everything you'll have to do later to automate it.

3. Look At Your Numbers (Don't Guess)

Ignoring or guessing at the metrics is another major mistake I see when entrepreneurs are trying to automate their marketing. They have landing pages, emails, and Facebook ads that they're using, but they're not making money from it. They just start changing things, trying to fix it. If you just start changing random things, you're guessing at what's wrong with the funnel. You might be changing something that's working, or you might be changing something that doesn't matter at all. What I recommend is to track your numbers across the entire funnel so you can see - you can KNOW - what the problem is rather than having to guess what's not working. If you don't know what numbers to track or how to track them, hire someone to help you do that. I'll dive a lot deeper into the numbers to track in episode 8.
