Ep. 78 – Founder of The Uncaged Life Rebecca Tracey’s “How I Tripled My Revenue By Selling Packages”



  • 1:26 – Introduction.
  • 5:10 – Rebecca says that a lot of people start their business by selling hourly open ended services and she sees that a lot with new coaches, freelancers where they charge a flat rate per hour and you can book them for as many calls or sessions or time as you would like to do so. But Rebecca says that this is not a good business model because it’s not sustainable.
  • 6:10 – Rebecca sells packages and her packages have a set number of hours, a set price and they also solve a more specific problem. Her advice is to stop selling hourly packages.
  • 6:45 – Her second tip is that each of your packages should ideally do something different for your client so that it is really easy for them to decide which package they need.
  • 8:34 – Tip number three is to create your repeatable system and when you are doing hourly coaching or consulting you can’t do that because you are all over the place but when you start to define packages you start to be able to decide that you keep doing the same thing over and over again so you should have a system that you can repeat over and over again and this helps you feel really confident when talking to potential clients and you can say oh yeah you have this problem I totally work with that here’s my system, here’s what I do with people to fix that I’ve done it over and over and over again and you feel very confident telling them what you actually do and the potential clients will also feel that you know what you are doing.
  • 13:10 – A lot of people start out with big packages where they will do all the steps from start to finish and it might take six months to put together the whole thing and Rebecca usually recommends mapping that out so that if they had to go get a client right now is there one piece of this puzzle that is easier for them to do or that most people need more than the rest and then they start the small package and that is much easier to start with. 
  • 14:20 – Her fourth reason why using packages in this way is the best way to scale your business is that when you have this system, the beauty of that is that that then becomes group programs, online classes, any type of package or program that you can scale and do instead of one to one, one to many and it is very key to go to this in the right order because so many people jump to create a group or an online program and they don’t have the system for it but when you do have a system and you have done this with many clients you become pro with it, you know your steps, you know how to teach it, where the issues come up for people and how to get through those issues then you can start growing into group programs and online courses or anything where you are actually teaching people.
  • 15:30 – Rebecca’s signature program is called ‘Uncage your business’ which is about setting the foundation for new business owners and it is mostly for coaches and service based folks. It’s a lot about nailing down your brand message and what you stand for and what makes you different and who your clients are.
  • 20:05 – Rebecca is currently running a group with ten people and she is helping all of them create their own group program because they are at a stage where they have done a lot of one on ones and they are ready to scale. She says that people’s work might not be as customized as they think and they have the same system that they follow. There is still place for one on one programs for sure but they should be higher priced and only for specific clients.
