Ep. 76 – Local Marketing Stars Founder Oguz Konar’s “How We Helped A Company Generate 321 Real-Time Hot Leads In 90 Days”

  • 1:28 – Introduction.
  • 6:50 – When Oguz came in contact with the company, they had been doing marketing for a very long time and they had tried and failed many times and so the owner was very skeptical because they had already tried SEO and paid advertising. They went through 20 interviews and shortlisted three people Oguz was one of them and he was asked to show up in person.  And he explained to them that you have to understand your audience and many of the problems are not related to the tools you are using or the company you are using it’s just that you are not understanding the needs of your customers.  If people are not responding to your offers, that’s because the offers are not specific enough. The company was selling business loans and they were not using the same language as their customers and they were using industry specific jargon.
  • 9:01 – Oguz explained to them that people do not use search engines that way. And they redesigned their marketing around the terms that the customers use. So his first tip is by understanding your customers you need to build a vocabulary of what words your customers use to describe your services. 
  • 10:18 – The demand for your services is already there, you are not creating demand with your marketing but you are just connecting with that demand.
  • 11:10 – His second tip is that it’s not the platform or the tool that you use, it’s just matching the right tool to the right job. Many businesses have this mindset challenge that they keep hearing different coaches talking about scaling your business but you can’t scale your business if you don’t have a system and a predictable way of getting those clients coming through the door. So initially you need to get first few of them and you need to ensure that you have a case study where you can get results for them and then repeat the same thing over and over again.
  • 13:42 – The next tip is to build the campaigns based on the message and testing them out. It is a lot easier to sell to people who have bought from you before instead of acquiring new customers. So Oguz and his team had access to the email list of their old customers and they put together a simple text email and made them a direct offer. And within two days of distributing that email, the company made $99,000 in commissions.
  • 16:07 – The more established businesses say that we don’t have anything else to sell to our old customers, they already bought from us and Oguz tells them that since the old customers already value your services and they might have other problems too in parallel to what you have provided them. So you can come up with a package and put it in front of them and they would rather use your services again than to use some other company’s services which they haven’t tried before.   
  • 17:56 – Even if you want to stick with one product, you can ask your base audience for referrals that is the cheapest way of marketing.
  • 20:31 – The next tip is taking what you learn from the previous steps and just scaling it by using the right platform to get it out.
  • 24:12 – Oguz was on a call with a client and they brought in a branding company to work hand in hand with Oguz’s company and the branding company was trying to convince the client to change their logo but Oguz told his client it was not worth spending thousands of dollars just to change your logo.
  • 26:17 – According to Oguz, when you first start out you don’t know your audience that well but once you have been through so many people and so many yeses and nos and successes stories and you know what people’s responses are going to be so at that point it’s okay to create a website that has all the functionality and branding.
